You receive the mandatory helmet and a full briefing on road safety, how the electric bicycle works (controls, assist levels, brakes), the route you will follow, and the rules of the road. The history of the Via Appia Antica and what you will see during the ride are also introduced.
You will begin cycling along the Via Appia Antica, built in 312 BC by consul Appius Claudius Caecus, considered the most important Roman road and called Regina Viarum (Queen of Roads). You will ride on the original volcanic stone pavement, still perfectly intact after more than 2,300 years, among umbrella pines, ancient villas, and monumental tombs. The guide will explain how this road connected Rome to Brindisi over 540 km and was vital for the trade and military campaigns of the Roman Empire.
Along the route you will stop at the main Roman monuments: the Tomb of Cecilia Metella (a cylindrical mausoleum from the 1st century BC), the Villa of the Quintilii (an imperial residence from the 2nd century), the Circus of Maxentius (a Roman stadium for chariot racing). You will pass by the Christian catacombs of San Callisto or San Sebastiano (exterior visit with explanations). The guide will recount the history and archaeology of these ancient sites.
One of the most evocative moments of the tour: you will ride through the Aqueducts Park beneath the majestic arches of the Claudian Aqueduct, up to 30 meters tall, built between 38 and 52 AD to bring water to Rome from 69 km away. You will also see the 16th-century Acqua Felice. A mandatory photo stop in this breathtaking setting where nature, history, and Roman architecture blend perfectly. The park has also served as the backdrop for many famous films.
You will cross Caffarella Park, a 132-hectare green valley crossed by the Almone river, considered sacred by the ancient Romans. Here you will see grazing sheep, ruins of Roman villas, the Nymphaeum of Egeria, and countryside landscapes that seem timeless. A green lung in the heart of the Appian Way where nature has reclaimed the spaces left by the ancient Romans. A relaxing and rejuvenating ride away from the smog.
At the end of the tour you will return to the starting point cycling along secondary roads and cycle paths. You will return the e-bike and helmet. The guide will give a final debrief, answering questions and providing recommendations on typical restaurants in the area, other Appian Way attractions to visit on foot (such as entering the catacombs), or how to continue your day. Total cycling distance: approximately 15-20 km in 4 hours at a relaxed pace.

Booking Policy
Advance booking is mandatory to guarantee e-bike availability and group organization. Spots are limited to a maximum of 12-15 people per tour. Availability fills up quickly, especially on spring and summer weekends.
At the time of booking you must declare your height so the appropriate e-bike can be assigned, and confirm that you know how to ride a bicycle. Arrive with your confirmation voucher, a valid ID, and appropriate sportswear (closed shoes, no sandals). Without the minimum requirements (ability to ride a bicycle, minimum height 150 cm) participation will not be possible.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellation with sufficient advance notice:A full refund is generally available if you cancel with sufficient notice, for example up to 2 days (48 hours) before the tour start time, in accordance with the provider's terms.
Cancellation within the cutoff period:Cancellations made with less than 48 hours notice may not be refunded and the fee may be retained.
Late arrival:The tour departs at the scheduled time. Latecomers risk not receiving their e-bike and being left out of the group. No refund is provided for participant delays.
Bad weather:In case of heavy rain or dangerous weather conditions, the provider may reschedule the tour, offering a new date or a full refund.

- Respect the highway code, road signs, and always maintain control of your bike.
- Do not leave the group without informing the guide; maintain a safe distance between bicycles.
- Respect monuments and archaeological areas; do not leave the permitted paths.
- In case of a technical problem with the e-bike or feeling unwell, stop immediately and inform the guide who will provide assistance.
